Squeeze Interaction

The Squeeze Drop lacks any buttons to control the device as these were both perceived to be "old school" and did not contribute to a clean and elegant product. Interactions are done through a squeeze-based interface which we call Squifitti, a squeeze graffiti. In addition to squeezing the device the user can navigate through menus using a jog dial located on the perimeter of the screen with navigation similar to that of the the iPod.

The commands for squifitti are as follows:

  • Single squeeze while off turns it on
  • Single squeeze while on skips to the next track
  • Single squeeze while navigating through menus selects the active item
  • Double squeeze stops the player. If left alone for more than 30 seconds the player will turn off
  • Squeeze and hold for greater than 1/2 second goes back a track
  • Squeeze and turn dial increases / decreases the volume.
